SUBJECT: Commendation.
TO: Captain Elmer W. Clark. 49th Armored Inf. Battalion.
APO 258. U. S. Army.
1. It is with great reluctance that. due to changes in the
tactical situation. I must turn Company C. 49th Armored Infantry
Battalion, back to its parent organization.
2. During the time that the enlisted men and officers of your
organization have been attached to my Battalion they have served
always in a superior manner. All the officers and enlisted men were
energetic in the execution of their duties which at times were
accomplished under extremely hazardous conditions. I have noted
with pride the discipline of your organization and the results
obtained.
3. Should the occasion again arise that we could serve
together I would be more than pleased at the opportunity.
4. I would appreciate it if you would inform your men of the
contents of this letter; and that due to their efforts in the past
operation Task Force Van Houten was extremely successful.
JOHN H. VAN HOUTEN
Lt. Co1.. Cavalry
